How To Live Near Neighbors Who Are Trouble
There are few things more upsetting than buying a home, located next to people you cannot stand. Unfortunately, when shopping for a home, you have little knowledge of how neighbor relations will go. The current homeowners are not going to be totally forthcoming with their feelings because they know it may discourage you from buying the home. In other cases, they may not have a problem with the neighbors. The only thing that will enlighten you is to time spent living near these people, and if that results in your not liking them, it can lead to a great deal of stress. There are some things that can be done to make life near bad neighbors livable. First, create a private space around your home. If you can block out the difficult people, coexisting may be possible. Consider some CT fencing. CT fences may not alleviate all the noise but it can create a way to lessen the problem.
If that is not a solution, consider talking to them. This can be intimidating, but you may find that just by letting them know something is upsetting you, it will solve the problem. Use your judgment before approaching them. If their offenses are small, it may be something they did not even realize they were doing. If they seem completely unreasonable, this solution may not work, but at least consider it before taking more drastic measure.
You also have the option of doing nothing. This may be the best solution if you are planning to stay, the difficult neighbors are going nowhere, and you believe reasoning with them is going to be a waste of time. You are going to have to just cope with whatever the problem is and essentially, do nothing about it. You may want to speak with other neighbors as an outlet for your frustration, especially if they are coping too.
If the problem is severe enough, you may need to call the police. Sometimes Pyou start out thinking you will just live with the problem, but then it gets worse over time. If the problem continues to worsen and your neighbors are doing things that are illegal, call the police. If you suspect things may be crossing the line, but you are not positive, it still does not hurt to contact the authorities. You may find many of the other annoyances are solved by reporting the one big offense.
Finally, consider relocating. If you are in a neighborhood that continues to decline due to crime, this may be your only choice. Some people choose to stay and fight, but not everyone has time to march down to their city hall building and take on an entire neighborhood of apathy. If there are problems and no one is doing anything about them, and they are putting your family’s safety at risk, it may be better to move on to a better place.
